Gloria Sarfo Vows To Fight For Ghana’s Film Industry

Award-winning Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has promised to keep fighting for change in the country’s struggling film industry. She believes the industry has a lot of potential but is being wasted.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, she explained that although some of her colleagues criticise her for being outspoken, she will not stop talking. She said her commitment is not for herself but for younger actors who are just starting out.

According to Gloria, she used to feel that the Ghanaian film industry was not worth fighting for. However, she has changed her mind because she now wants to fight for the next generation of filmmakers.

She stressed that her fight is not for those who are already comfortable in the industry. Instead, she is fighting for the young people who still have dreams and want to build something better.

Gloria revealed that many young actors often reach out to her in private. They share their frustrations and encourage her not to give up her advocacy for improvement.

In an Instagram post on July 15, 2025, she compared the state of the Ghanaian film industry to Nigeria’s. She wrote that actors in Nigeria have more opportunities and get to work almost every day.

She said that in Nigeria, films are shot back-to-back without pause. Meanwhile, in Ghana, producers struggle to even shoot a single movie in a whole year.

Gloria described the situation as both “crazy” and “disheartening.” She questioned what had gone wrong in an industry that once had so much promise and success.

She added that many talented Ghanaian actors are wasting their gifts at home. According to her, these same actors could thrive and succeed easily if they were in Nigeria.

Her comments sparked mixed reactions among the public. Some people praised her courage while others accused her of painting Ghana in a bad light.

Despite the criticism, Gloria insists that she will continue speaking the truth. She believes silence will only make the situation worse for the next generation.

Gloria Sarfo has starred in several well-known films and television productions. Some of her works include Efiewura, The Perfect Picture, Aloe Vera, and Adam The Eve.

She believes Ghana’s film industry can be revived with effort and proper support. For her, the fight is about creating opportunities for the future.
