GES Sacks KNUST SHS Headmaster Academic

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken action against Mr. Charles Akwasi Aidoo, who was the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Academics at KNUST Senior High School. He has been removed from his position after a video showing him in an alleged compromising situation with a female student went viral.

GES made this decision public in a statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations, on Monday, September 29, 2025. They described the matter as very serious and promised that it would handle the case with fairness and discipline.

According to the statement, Mr. Aidoo has also been banned from entering the school while investigations continue. This step, GES explained, is to protect students and ensure a safe environment for learning.

GES assured parents, teachers, and the general public that due process will be followed throughout the investigation. They said that any disciplinary action taken will be guided strictly by the service’s code of conduct.

The statement also stressed that the wellbeing and safety of students remain the top priority of the Ghana Education Service. GES made it clear that no form of misconduct involving staff and students will be tolerated.

“GES remains committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism and child protection in all schools,” the statement emphasized. The service also added that discipline and integrity are important values that every teacher must respect.

Parents and stakeholders have been urged to remain calm while the investigation continues. GES promised to communicate the outcome of the case once all processes are completed.

This case has attracted a lot of public attention because it involves both a senior school official and a student. Many people believe the decision to remove Mr. Aidoo is a strong step to protect students from possible harm.

The Ghana Education Service explained that schools must always be safe spaces for learning and growth. Any act that puts students in danger or affects their dignity will be dealt with immediately.

GES concluded its statement by reminding teachers and school leaders of their responsibility to be role models. They encouraged all staff to act in ways that build trust and respect between them and the students.
