Man Arrested At El-Wak For Using Fake Documents

The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed the arrest of a man for forging documents during the ongoing recruitment exercise. The incident happened at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.

The military began the recruitment again on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The exercise had been suspended earlier because of a tragic stampede.

The stampede happened on November 12 at the same stadium. Six young people who came to be recruited sadly lost their lives.

The military paused the recruitment after the incident. They said they needed time to improve safety and control the crowd.

When the process restarted, many candidates came to the venue. Close to a thousand people have completed different stages so far.

Security officers have been watching the exercise carefully. They want to make sure all candidates follow the rules.

While checking documents on Thursday, they found one person presenting forged papers. The officers quickly arrested him.

The suspect was handed over to the proper security authorities. He will face punishment according to military procedures.

Colonel Evelyn Asamoah is the Director of Protocol for the Ghana Armed Forces. She confirmed the arrest in an interview with Citi News.

She said the military takes document fraud very seriously. She also said they will not allow dishonest people to enter the service.

Colonel Asamoah explained that strict checks are part of the recruitment process. She said these checks help them select the right people.

She encouraged all applicants to bring only genuine documents. She warned that anyone who forges papers will be caught.

She also expressed sympathy for the families affected by the earlier stampede. She said the military is working to prevent another tragedy.

Officers have added new safety measures at the stadium. They now control the flow of candidates entering the screening area.

They have also increased the number of security personnel. They want to make the environment calm and organized.

Meanwhile, the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament visited the recruitment centre. The team was led by Chairman James Agalga.

The committee came to observe how the recruitment was being conducted. They wanted to make sure the process was transparent.

James Agalga spoke to journalists after the visit. He said he was pleased with the conduct of the exercise.

He praised the military for improving safety after the stampede. He also praised them for keeping the recruitment orderly.

He said the committee will continue to monitor the exercise. He wants the
recruitment to be fair for all candidates.

The chairman encouraged young people to remain patient during the process. He said the military is doing its best to screen everyone properly.

He also advised candidates to follow instructions from the officers. He said this will help prevent confusion.

The recruitment exercise will continue in the coming days. The military expects more candidates to go through the screening.

They hope the rest of the exercise will run smoothly. They also hope there will be no more incidents.
