10.5 Million Deposited Into Non-Existent 'Buffer Account' - Finance Minister‎

‎The Deputy Finance Minister, Thomas Nyarko Ampem has disclosed that an amount of GH¢ 10.5 million was deposited into a fictitious "Buffer Account" during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

‎This revelation emerged from an Auditor-General's report concerning arrears and payables.

‎In recent parliamentary proceedings, he emphasized that the payment was made to a bank account referred to as the "Buffer Account" at a commercial bank.

‎According to him, the bank confirmed that no such payment had been received, and the account number provided did not exist in the bank's records.

‎"Upon verification, the bank confirmed that it had never received such payment; the account number sighted did not exist in the bank's record and did not even conform to its numbering format," he revealed.

‎He highlighted that the evidence from the audit pointed to a completely false account.

‎Mr. Ampem Nyarko, further called for a forensic audit of the entire 'One District, One Factory' initiative, considering that government reported to have spent GH¢ 391million towards the scheme in 2024.

"As a result of this fictitious account, linked to the 'One District, One Factory' scheme, the entire 1D1F Scheme requires a forensic audit which would be carried out soon.

‎"Moreso, when government is said to have spent GH¢ 391 million as it's contribution towards 1D1F interest subsidies by the end of 2024," he asserted.
