GES Gets Approval To Pay 6,249 Newly Recruited Teachers

The Ghana Education Service has announced that it has secured financial clearance to pay the salaries of newly recruited teachers. The clearance covers a total of 6,249 teachers who were engaged during the 2024 recruitment exercise.

According to a public statement issued by the head of public relations, the approval was granted by the Ministry of Finance after a thorough review of the submitted documentation. The statement explained that the Ministry is responsible for authorising all staffing payments for public sector institutions.

The Ghana Education Service indicated that the approval gives it the mandate to begin the final stages of preparing the affected teachers for inclusion on the national payroll system. The Service emphasised that this process is necessary to ensure that every eligible teacher receives the correct salary and allowances.

In the statement, the Ghana Education Service outlined that the financial clearance will remain valid until December 31, 2025. The organisation stated that this period gives it enough time to complete all administrative and verification duties.

The management of the Service assured teachers that it is committed to completing the processing before the salary cycle for November 2025 is finalised. The assurance was given to reduce anxiety among teachers who have been waiting for confirmation of their salary placement.

The statement further explained that the payroll process involves checking appointment letters, verifying duty commencement dates, and matching data with national records. The Service added that these steps help prevent errors and ensure fairness in the distribution of public funds.

The Ghana Education Service also noted that the clearance will enable new staff to receive their payments through the mechanised payroll system. The mechanised payroll system is used by government institutions to standardise and monitor salary payments.

The Service expressed appreciation to the newly recruited teachers for their patience throughout the verification and placement phase. The appreciation was extended to all staff who supported the administrative procedures leading up to the approval.

Management highlighted that the timely release of financial clearance demonstrates the Ministry of Finance’s commitment to supporting the education sector. The Service indicated that the approval will strengthen morale and improve efficiency in public schools.

The Ghana Education Service reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring that the salary payment system remains accurate and transparent. The reaffirmation was made to assure teachers that their welfare remains a priority.

The organisation encouraged teachers to remain focused on their professional duties while the payroll process is being completed. The Service also encouraged administrative officers to speed up document processing at their various district and regional offices.

Management stated that it will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to address any concerns that may arise during the payment process. The organisation promised to provide updates whenever new information becomes available.

The Ghana Education Service concluded by urging teachers to follow official communication channels for verified updates on their salary placement. The conclusion emphasised the importance of avoiding misinformation and relying only on recognised sources.
