Kofi Kinaata’s Fame Rises In Kumasi After Asantehene’s Praise

Ghanaian highlife musician Kofi Kinaata has shared how his popularity in Kumasi has grown stronger in recent months. He said this success came after he received a public endorsement from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Speaking in an interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Kinaata explained that the King’s support has greatly influenced his music career. He said the endorsement brought more attention to his songs and made more people in Kumasi interested in his work.

According to the award-winning artiste, his streaming numbers have gone up since the endorsement. His social media following has also increased as more fans from the Ashanti Region started showing him love online.

Kinaata added that the recognition has also opened doors to new business opportunities. He revealed that several corporate organisations in Kumasi have now invited him to perform at their events. This, he said, has helped him reach new audiences and gain more respect in the music industry.

“Kumasi is becoming a hotspot for me, especially since the endorsement came,” he said. “The endorsement did a lot for me. It brought in some corporate shows, and my numbers also increased.”

In September 2024, the Asantehene publicly praised Kinaata’s song Susuka during a Ghana Bar Association event. The King mentioned the track as one that teaches appreciation, humility, and contentment.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II commended Kinaata for spreading positive messages through his music. He said songs like Susuka remind Ghanaians to be grateful for what they have and to live wisely.

The Asantehene’s words drew attention from many people who had never listened to Kinaata before. Soon after, the song gained new streams and went viral again on social media.

Kinaata expressed deep gratitude to the King for recognizing his work. He said the endorsement came as a surprise but has since changed the direction of his career.

He also noted that Kumasi now feels like a second home to him because of the warm support from fans there. “I really appreciate Kumasi for the love they are showing me,” Kinaata said. “The people here are amazing, and I’m happy to perform for them anytime.”

Kofi Kinaata believes this experience proves how powerful support from respected leaders can be in promoting local music. He said he will continue creating songs that inspire and reflect good values.
