Headteachers at Akyem Adukrom Basic School and Kyebi Islamic Basic School in Abuakwa South Municipality have requested immediate aid from government officials and charitable persons.
They reported acute shortages of desks, instructional materials, and other learning resources required for effective schooling. According to school administrators, a lack of adequate furniture has become a big issue, causing numerous students to sit on the bare floor during class.
They pointed out that the circumstances not only impair focus and academic achievement but also put the kids' health at risk.
Three basic schools in the township have received funding from philanthropist Kojo Adjei Mahammed, CEO of Tako God's Resources Ltd.
"Our kids deserve better classrooms and appropriate furniture," a head teacher stated. "We're urging the government and non-governmental organizations to assist us before things worsen."
The appeal highlights the continuous resource and infrastructure shortages that many public basic schools in Ghana face, especially in rural and semi-urban areas like Abuakwa South.
Sometimes known as King Kojo Tako, in an effort to alleviate some of these challenges. He gave GHC 10,000 in financial aid, 2,000 exercise books, various drinks, and snacks.
In addition to providing education, King Kojo Tako helped the society at large by covering hospital costs for mothers who were unable to pay for their medical care at the Kyebi Government Hospital and giving 400 widows clothing and supplies.
Nana Adu Danso, adviser to the philanthropist, told Adom News that the project is part of King Kojo Tako's larger mission to improve education and social welfare in the Eastern Region.
He also encouraged young people to emulate such actions by doing their part to help impoverished communities.
The headteachers of Adukrom and Kyebi Islamic Basic Schools acknowledged their gratitude for the help, but emphasized the critical need for ongoing government and community support to improve the learning environment.
