Female DOVVSU Officer Accused Of Snaching Complainant’s Husband

Female DOVVSU Officer Accused Of Snaching Complainant’s Husband

A 43-year-old woman, Mary Agbenu Edorla, has accused a female police officer of having a romantic affair with her husband. She claims the alleged relationship led to the collapse of her three-year marriage.

According to Madam Edorla, her husband, Stephen Tengey, became romantically involved with a senior police officer handling a case at the Tema Katamanso Police Station. The officer has been identified as Detective Chief Inspector Divina Worlanyo Afenu of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU).

The victim shared her story in an emotional interview with the Daily Guide newspaper. She said her problems began after a misunderstanding involving a house help living in her home.

Madam Edorla explained that the house help allegedly stole money from her. She said when she confronted the girl, the house help ran away from the house.

She added that the girl later resurfaced with the police and a neighbour. The neighbour reportedly told her that the girl had been found staying near an uncompleted building.

According to Madam Edorla, the house help claimed that her mother had threatened to beat her. This development led to the involvement of the Tema Katamanso Police Station.

Madam Edorla said she was invited to the police station to give a statement. She was also instructed to bring the biological parents of the house help.

She explained that the police officer handling the case asked her husband to travel to the girl’s village. The purpose of the trip was to bring the girl’s parents to the police station.

Madam Edorla stated that her husband agreed to the request . She believed at the time that he was only assisting with the investigation.

After the case was settled, she noticed that her husband’s behavior has changed. She said he started receiving frequent calls from Chief Inspector Afenu.

According to her, some of the calls came late at night. When she questioned her husband, he claimed the calls were related to police investigations.

She said she initially trusted her husband’s explanation. However, her trust began to fade when she noticed strange changes in his routine.

Madam Edorla claimed her suspicions deepened when she discovered nude photographs on her husband’s phone. She alleged that the photos were sent by the police officer.

She believed at that point that her husband and the officer were having an affair.

According to Madam Edorla, she confronted Chief Inspector Afenu about the alleged relationship. She said the officer denied any wrongdoing at first.

Her doubts were later reinforced by another incident. She claimed she saw her husband leaving the officer’s residence early one morning.

She said her husband had spent the night there. This act convinced her that the relationship was real.

Madam Edorla alleged that when she confronted both parties, her husband assaulted her. She said this led her to seek help from the police.

She explained that she first reported the matter to senior officers at the station. According to her, no action was taken after the report.

She said she later reported the case directly to the Divisional Commander. The report was made to Chief Superintendent Kwadwo Badu-Adu.

Expressing her pain, Madam Edorla said she introduced her husband to the officer during an investigation. She said she never imagined the situation would end this way.

She added that the officer requested her husband’s assistance during the case. She claimed the professional relationship later turned into a personal affair.

Meanwhile, the Tema Divisional Commander has confirmed receiving the complaint. He acknowledged that the allegations have come to his attention.

Chief Superintendent Kwadwo Badu-Adu confirmed that an assault case was reported by Madam Edorla. He said the alleged affair surfaced during investigations.

According to him, the DOVVSU unit at the Tema Divisional Command is handling the case. He added that investigations are ongoing.

The commander also disclosed that efforts to contact Stephen Tengey have not been successful. He said investigators are still trying to reach him.

The case has generated widespread public discussion. Many people are raising concerns about ethics and professional boundaries in law enforcement.

As investigations continue, the public is awaiting further updates. The Ghana Police Service has not issued a final statement on the matter.
