The Member of Parliament for Asutifi South in the Ahafo Region, Alhaji Collins Dauda, has expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama. He thanked the President for initiating the long-awaited construction of the Tepa–Goaso road.
Alhaji Dauda made these remarks during an inspection tour of the ongoing road works at Acherensua. He described the project as a historic intervention for the people of Ahafo.
The MP said the people of the region would remain forever grateful to President Mahama. He explained that the road project addresses one of the most serious infrastructure problems in the area.
According to him, the Tepa–Goaso road had been neglected for many years. He said the poor state of the road caused suffering for motorists, traders, and residents.
Alhaji Dauda noted that Ahafo plays a major role in Ghana’s economy. He mentioned gold mining, cocoa farming, and timber production as key contributions.
Despite these contributions, he said the region was denied a good road network for eight years. He blamed the previous NPP administration for failing to fix the road.
The MP explained that the bad road affected economic activities in the region. He said traders struggled to transport goods to markets.
He added that commuters often spent long hours on the road. He said frequent breakdowns and accidents were common.
Alhaji Dauda stated that the hardship pushed residents to demand political change. He said the people decided to vote out the NPP government.
According to him, bringing the NDC back to power has already produced results. He said the ongoing asphalt work proves that decision was right.
He explained that the road is now being properly reconstructed. He said the project will greatly reduce travel time.
The MP also said the road will lower transportation costs. He noted that this will improve trade and economic growth.
The Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, also expressed her gratitude to President Mahama. She praised him for keeping his promise to the region.
She said the President assured chiefs and residents during the campaign period. She added that he has now fulfilled that promise.
The Regional Minister described the project as a sign of responsible leadership. She said it reflects the President’s concern for ordinary citizens.
She noted that good roads are essential for development. She said the Tepa–Goaso road will open up communities in Ahafo.
The District Chief Executive for Asutifi South, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, also shared similar sentiments. He thanked the President for prioritizing the road.
He said the project will improve access to health and education services. He added that it will support local businesses.
Mr. Donkor stated that the road will attract investors to the region. He said improved infrastructure builds confidence in development planning.
