The Bono Regional Police Command has started an investigation into the suspected murder of a 27-year-old woman, Haggar Nyorkpatey. She was found dead on her farm in Yaw Wusukrom, a small farming community near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District.
According to the police, the young woman was seven months pregnant at the time of her death. She was believed to have been killed on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed shocking details about the murder. The report showed that Haggar’s throat had been slit with a sharp object, leading to severe bleeding.
The police also said that blood clots were found in her mouth and ear canal. A foamy substance mixed with blood was also seen around her neck, showing signs of a violent struggle.
A statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Regional Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. It said that the case was first reported by a 57-year-old man named Charles Asante.
According to the report, Charles told the police that Haggar, who was his younger brother’s wife, left home for her farm around 8:30 a.m. that morning. However, she did not return home at the usual time, which caused concern among the family.
Later that day, community members joined in a search to find her. Sadly, they discovered her lifeless body lying on her farm.
The police team quickly moved to the crime scene after receiving the report. They confirmed that the woman was pregnant and carefully examined the nature of her injuries.
According to the officers, Haggar was wearing a multi-coloured dress and blue trousers with white stripes when she was found. Her body was later taken to the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
The police say that the autopsy will help reveal the exact cause of death. They also mentioned that more evidence will be collected to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The Bono Regional Police Command has assured the public that every effort is being made to solve the case. They are working with residents and nearby communities to gather useful information.
Chief Inspector Akeelah urged members of the public to remain calm and support the police with any helpful details. He also encouraged people to report suspicious activities to the authorities as investigations continue.
“Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the suspect or suspects responsible for this cruel act,” the police statement said. The command promised that justice will be served for Haggar and her unborn child.
