Ghana Crush Central African Republic To Move Closer To 2026 World Cup Spot

The Black Stars of Ghana took a big step toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They defeated the Central African Republic (CAR) 5–0.

The match was played at the Stade d’Honneur in Morocco. Head coach Otto Addo named a strong starting team for the crucial game.

Winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku returned to the lineup after recovering from injury. His presence boosted the team’s attack and confidence.

Ghana needed a win to stay on course for next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The team started the match cautiously as CAR launched a few counterattacks.

The Black Stars’ defence stayed solid and calm under pressure. Both teams shared possession in the early stages of the game.

Soon, Ghana found their rhythm and began to dominate. The players pushed forward and created several chances in attack.

In the 21st minute, Mohammed Salisu scored the first goal. He headed in a corner kick from Mohammed Kudus to give Ghana the lead.

Kudus nearly doubled the score minutes later, but his effort was cleared off the line. Midfielder Kwasi Sibo also came close with a long-range shot that went wide.

Ghana controlled the pace for the rest of the first half. The team passed the ball well and ended the half leading 1–0.

After the break, the Black Stars started the second half strongly. Their pressure quickly resulted in another goal.

In the 52nd minute, Thomas Partey scored from a Jordan Ayew assist. The goal lifted the team’s confidence even higher.

CAR tried to fight back but missed a good chance in the 63rd minute. Jordan Ayew received a yellow card shortly after a heated exchange.

Ghana continued to attack and kept control of the game. Alexander Djiku scored the third goal with a strong header in the 68th minute.

Jordan Ayew added the fourth goal just three minutes later. He took advantage of a defensive mistake to put Ghana 4–0 ahead.

Coach Otto Addo made several substitutions to maintain the team’s energy. Kamaldeen Sulemana, Elisha Owusu, and Joseph Paintsil came on for fresh legs.

Kamaldeen almost scored but missed narrowly with a curling shot. However, he later got his reward in the closing minutes.

In the 87th minute, Kamaldeen scored Ghana’s fifth goal. He finished off a fine cross from Joseph Paintsil to seal the win.

The 5–0 victory was a huge boost for the Black Stars. It moved Ghana to the top of Group I with 22 points.

Ghana now needs only a draw to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They will face Comoros on Sunday, October 12, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
