Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has launched a new internship program for university students. The aim is to give young people in his constituency real job experience during the long vacation.
Mr. Dumelo explained that many graduates struggle to find work after school. This is because most of them leave school without practical training.
To address this problem, he has secured internship slots in different industries. These include banking, finance, government offices, and big private companies.
He believes the program will make students more competitive in the job market. It will also help them gain confidence and skills needed for their careers.
Students who are interested are asked to apply quickly. Applications should be sent to johndumelointernships@gmail.com on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mr. Dumelo reminded the students that he is always ready to help. He encouraged them with a friendly assurance, saying, “You know I dey 4 you.”
According to him, this initiative is part of a bigger plan for the youth. He wants young people to be better prepared for Ghana’s growing job market.
Aside from the internship program, Mr. Dumelo also spoke about illegal mining, known as galamsey. He said the practice is destroying farms and threatening the country’s food security.
During a recent trip to the Brong Ahafo region, he met with worried farmers. Many of them complained that illegal miners had damaged their lands.
Some farmers said their crops had been destroyed completely. Others even reported that miners were shooting at them when they tried to resist.
Mr. Dumelo described the situation as very serious. He warned that if it continues, food production in Ghana will suffer greatly.
He added that the government is already taking steps to deal with galamsey. He said the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources is working hard on the issue.
Despite the challenges, he is hopeful that progress will soon be made. He believes the fight against galamsey will begin to show positive results.
Through his internship initiative and his concern about galamsey, Mr. Dumelo is showing leadership. He believes supporting both students and farmers will secure a better future for Ghana.
