The National Sports Authority (NSA) has lifted the suspension on professional boxing in Ghana. The new decision will start on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The suspension was removed after new medical and safety rules were introduced by the Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (IMC). These new rules were made to make boxing safer and more organised.
The NSA said this marks a new beginning for boxing in Ghana. It believes the sport will now be managed with more discipline and fairness.
In a statement, the NSA praised the Interim Management Committee for its hard work. It also thanked boxers, coaches, and promoters for being patient during the changes.
Ghana is known for producing many great boxing champions. The NSA said the reforms will help protect the country’s proud boxing history.
One major change is the introduction of new medical and safety manuals. These manuals explain how organisers should protect boxers before, during, and after fights.
A new medical commission has also been created by the NSA. This team will include doctors and health experts who will make sure all safety rules are followed.
The NSA has also built a central health database for all boxers. This system will help keep records of each boxer’s health to avoid medical mistakes.
An insurance plan has been introduced to protect all professional boxers and officials. This insurance will help pay medical bills or support boxers if they get injured.
The NSA said it is ready to build a safer and more professional boxing system. It believes the new reforms will increase trust and make the sport more respected.
The Authority also encouraged local and international promoters to organise boxing events in Ghana. It assured them that all fights must follow the new medical and safety rules.
The lifting of the suspension is a big moment for Ghanaian boxing. The NSA believes the sport now has a brighter, safer, and more successful future.
