The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a major update for the 2025 Diaspora Summit. The ministry says all registered participants will benefit from a free visa arrangement ahead of the event.
The summit is scheduled for 19th December 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre. The ministry believes this step will boost international participation.
A statement released on 2nd December 2025 confirmed that the initiative fulfills a pledge made earlier. Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa made the commitment during the summit’s official media launch.

Holders of ordinary passports from Barbados, Bahamas, Dominica, Mauritius, Seychelles, and South Africa are exempt. Travellers from Kenya, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Tanzania, and Trinidad and Tobago are also included.
More countries such as Singapore, Sao Tome and Principe, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Rwanda, Morocco, Guyana, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are also on the list. People from Malawi and Grenada enjoy the same benefit.
The ministry also outlined countries whose diplomatic, service, and official passport holders qualify for visa free entry. This waiver applies only to special passport categories.
Officials from Brazil, Colombia, China, Cuba, Germany, Sudan, and Türkiye qualify for visa free travel. The benefit also applies to holders from Namibia, Hungary, Iran, India, and Equatorial Guinea.
Some additional countries on the list include Saint Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, Venezuela, Malta, and the United Arab Emirates. These waivers support strong government level cooperation.
The ministry urged all summit participants to begin their visa arrangements early. It believes timely preparation will guarantee easier travel.
