The FIFA World Cup 2026 is already setting new records even before the tournament begins. More than 150 million ticket requests have been submitted halfway through the Random Selection Draw phase.
Fans from over 200 countries around the world have applied for tickets. This shows the massive global interest in football’s biggest competition.
The current ticketing phase opened on Thursday, 11 December 2025. Since then, demand has been far greater than the number of available tickets.
FIFA confirmed that the tournament is now oversubscribed by more than 30 times. This calculation is based on verified individual credit card numbers used during ticket applications.
The demand for tickets is also historic when compared to past World Cups. It is 3.4 times higher than the total number of spectators who attended all 22 World Cup editions since 1930.
In total, those tournaments featured 964 matches across nearly a century. The current demand alone exceeds all previous attendance combined.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the response as extraordinary. He said the numbers prove the World Cup 2026 will be the biggest and most inclusive event ever.
Infantino stated that the tournament will unite fans like never before. He also said North America will host a historic celebration of football and global unity.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place from Thursday, 11 June 2026 to Sunday, 19 July 2026. Matches will be played across 16 host cities in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
This edition will feature 48 national teams. A total of 104 matches will be played throughout the tournament.
The Random Selection Draw ticketing phase will remain open until Tuesday, 13 January 2026. It will close at 11:00 ET, which is 17:00 CET.
FIFA has confirmed that applying early does not improve chances of success. All ticket requests during this period have equal opportunity in the draw.
After the ticketing phase ends, FIFA will conduct a random draw. Successful applicants will be notified, while others can try again in later sales phases.
Fans who do not secure tickets in this round will still have more opportunities. Additional tickets will be released during future sales phases.
Ticket prices will stay the same throughout the current phase. Fans are encouraged to apply without worrying about price increases.
Supporters with an existing FIFA ID should log in and apply using their details. Even those who applied in earlier draws must enter again.
Fans without a FIFA ID must create one on FIFA.com/tickets. This is the official and trusted source for World Cup tickets.
On Tuesday, 16 December 2025, FIFA announced a new affordable ticket option. This option is called the Supporter Entry Tier.
The Supporter Entry Tier is priced at USD 60 per match. It is available for all 104 matches, including the final.
Fans supporting specific national teams may also apply for PMA Supporter tickets. Eligibility depends on rules set by each Participating Member Association.
Each PMA manages its own application process. Fans must meet the criteria set by their national football association.
Supporters looking for a premium experience can purchase hospitality packages. These packages include tickets and exclusive matchday services.
Hospitality tickets are available through On Location. On Location is the Official Hospitality Provider for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Fans can also choose all-inclusive travel packages from Qatar Airways. These packages include flights, hotels, transport, and match tickets.
FIFA is a not-for-profit organisation. Money earned from the World Cup is reinvested into football development.
Over 90 percent of FIFA’s budget for 2023 to 2026 will go back into the game. This funding supports football across all 211 FIFA Member Associations.
The investment helps grow men’s, women’s, and youth football worldwide. FIFA has published full investment details on its official website.
The record-breaking ticket demand proves the World Cup’s global appeal. FIFA World Cup 2026 is on track to become the biggest football event in history.
